Conor McGregor is one of the most popular martial arts athletes in the world. Although many have been criticized for being racist against Khabib Nurmagomedov, Conor McGregor has been able to become the highest paid UFC fighter at present. As McGregor’s popularity grew, his lifestyle also changed.
One striking difference from McGregor, between then and now, is the question of tattoos. When he underwent his debut match at UFC in 2013, against Marcus Brimage, not a single tattoo had been seen on his body. Now, as he is increasingly popular, McGregor is identical as a fighter with tattoos all over his body. Then, what tattoos actually owned by McGregor?
1. Gorilla
One of McGregor’s most famous tattoos is a large tattoo on his chest. The tattoo depicted the figure of an angry gorilla eating a heart. I do not know what it means, but allegedly, the tattoo is McGregor’s tribute to his coach, John Kavangah. As is known, the dojo or training ground established by John Kavangah, namely Straight Blast Gym, has a Gorilla logo. McGregor himself did not have much explanation about the tattoo. He claimed to only like it.
2. Tiger
Underneath that gorilla tattoo, is another iconic McGregor’s tattoo. A tiger tattoo. Regarding the tiger, McGregor has long been known to be infatuated with the beast. In fact, he is known to be often interested and learn how tigers kill prey. On top of the tiger tattoo, a tattoo that read ‘McGregor’ was written. Then under the tiger tattoo, is a tattoo that reads McGregor’s stage name: ‘Notorius’ or The Evil One.
3. Arabic Script
Not all tattoos have meaning for McGregor. One tattoo on the back of his foot, which is an Arabic script, for example. McGregor claimed that he had no idea what the meaning of the Arabic script was. Let alone the meaning, just how to read the Arabic alphabet, McGregor claimed not to understand. Then why did he choose that tattoo? Ridiculous, this is McGregor’s answer: “I made it when I was drunk in Ayia Napa,”. McGregor also admitted he made the tattoo at a cheap tattooist. At that time he was on vacation in Ayia Napa, a tourist area in Cyprus.
4. Navy Seals Slogan
McGregor also has a lot of tattoos on his hands. One tattoo is a rose tattoo and the words written on it. The writing reads: slow is smooth, smooth is fast. This saying, is a famous motto or slogan used by the elite forces of the United States, Navy SEALS.
